38. Regulation relating to re-appearance in examination to improve Class (No. BSU-43/86-3928/GS (1) dated 15.12.1986]

The Chancellor in consultation with the Bihar Inter University Board, Patna and the State Government has been pleased to approve the following regulation under section 5(2) of the Bihar Inter-University Board Act 1981.

PROVISION FOR RE-APPEARANCE IN EXAMINATION TO

IMPROVE CLASS

1. A candidate, who has passed the Masters or Honours examination in the faculty of Humanities. Social Science, Commerce, Acharya or Shastri Prastistha (excluding Professional examination), may, if he so desire, be allowed to re-appear in one or more of the theory papers, not exceeding three papers in all, of the said examination with a view to improving his previous performance, only, at the immediately succeeding examination held by the University subsequent to the one at which he last appeared and passed.

2. Such a candidate shall not be permitted to re-appear in the examination of practical course or in the viva-voce examination nor shall be permitted to submit fresh dissertation/ project report/ wherever prescribed.

3. In order to re-appear at the examination, a candidate shall be required to submit the prescribed examination form duly filled in and indicating therein the names of the paper/s in which he wishes to re-appear along with the prescribed fee through the Principal of the College/Head of the University Department from where he last appeared, on or before that date fixed for the purpose.

After submission of Examination Form no addition/deletion in respect of papers of re-appearance shall be permitted.

4. For determining the result of a candidate who re-appears in the examination, his better performance in the concerned paper/s shall be taken into account and for that if he secures higher marks in any of the paper/s in which he has reappeared, the same shall replace the marks obtained by him in the paper or papers concerned at the previous examination and his result shall be modified accordingly, but no charge shall be made in the merit list.
