1. The following two clause (8) and (9) shall be added after clause (7) of Article 3 of the Statutes called the "Service Statute of the University" as approved by the Chancellor on 20.9.1980 vide letter no 36/80-5270 GSO) dated 18.1.1980:-

            "(8) Any appointments against a substantive vacancy in a particular cadre shall be made on probation subject to the following conditions:

                                (i)        The minimum period of probation shall be two years.

(ii)       At senior positions, it shall be optional for the University to decide on confirmation at any time from the time of appointment to the end of the statutory period of probation.

(iii)     The confirmation of a Lecturer should not be linked to the completion of orientation course. However, efforts should be made to send the Lecturer either after joining, or immediately thereafter for participating in an orientation course".

                                    "(9) Service agreement-At the time of recruitment in University and Colleges, service agreement shall be signed between the University and the teacher which shall be lodged with the Registrar with a copy to the concerned teacher and the self-appraisal of performance shall be a part of the service agreement".
