The posts of University Professors/Professors/Readers/Lecturers/Principals shall be filled up by open advertisement. The pay scales and qualifications for these posts shall be as follows:

(a)       University Professors                                            Minimum Qualifications

Pay-Scale

Rs. 1500-60-1800-100-2000-125-2500.  Teacher of reputes possessing high academic qualifications, who has already distinguished himself in the subject concerned by his research and published works of high standard and who possesses a doctorate degree and has at least ten years Postgraduate teaching experience and also considerable experience of successful guidance of research work:              

Provided that in case of the Faculty of Education, in addition to the above qualification, he shall possess at least a first or high second class Master's Degree in the faculty of Arts, Science or Commerce or equivalent qualification recognized by the University.

(b)       Professor/Reader                                                   Minumum Qualification

            Pay-Scale

            Rs. 1200-50-1300-60-1900.                       1. A first or high second class Master's Degree

or equivalent degree of a foreign University in the subject concerned, with consistently good academic record, followed by a doctor's degree and                                              

2. With at least 5 years teaching experience in Postgraduate classes, or 7 years teaching experience in Honours and Postgraduate classes taken together or 12 years teaching experience in degree classes:

1[Provided that the requirement of a first or high second class Master's Degree for appointment to the post of Reader/Professor may be relaxed to bare second class in the case of teacher who, apart from obtaining his own Ph.D. Degree, has successfully guided research work leading to the award of Doctorate degree or has published considerable research work in standard journals beyond what he did for the Doctorate Degree, and has put in at least eight years of teaching experience in the Post Graduate classes or ten years of teaching experience in the Honours or Honours and Postgraduate Classes taken together or fifteen years of teaching experience in degree classes :]

 Provided further that in case of the Faculty of Education, in addition to the above qualifications, he shall possess at least a first or high second class Master's Degree in the Faculty of Arts, Science or Commerce or equivalent qualification recognized by the University.

(c)       Lecturer                                                                                Minimum Qualification

            Pay- Scale

Rs.700-40-1100-50-1600                           A first or high second class Master�s degree or equivalent degree of a Foreign University in the subject concerned, with consistently good academic record followed by a Ph.D. or M.Phil. Degree:

Pay-Scale-pay of University                      Provided that in case a candidate with Ph.D or Professor/Reader Plus an                                   M.Phil, degree is not available or not found allowance of Rs. 156/- P.M                   suitable, preference shall be given to a candidate . plus rent free house or 10%                  having consistently good academic record, but

the salary in lieu thereof                             such a candidate shall have to obtain Ph.D/M. Phil 

degree within five years of the date of his appointment, failing which he shall cease to earn any future increment until he fulfills the requirements:

Provided also that in case of Faculty of Education, in addition to the above qualification, he shall possess at least a first or high second class Master Degree in the Faculty of Arts, Science or Commerce or equivalent qualification recognized by the University :        

Provided further that the qualification for a Lecturer in Music, Home Science and other subjects given below shall be as follows :-

            Essential

(i)        Lecturer in Music                            Degree or Diploma in Hindustani/Karnatak/ Western  (Vocal or Instrumental) Music, as may be specialised, of a recognized institution or repute.

 

Desirable :                            

1.      Bachelor�s degree in any Faculty.

2.      Experience of giving recitals on Radio and in Music conference.

3.      Teaching experience.

4.      Knowledge of Hindi.

(i)                Lecturer in Home Science:

At least a second class Master�s Degree in Home Science or an M.B.B.S degree or a Master Degree in an allied subject plus(1) a degree or diploma in Home Science of a recognized University or (2) Bachelor�s degree with Home Science or Domestic Science as an optional subject, with two years teaching experience in a college.

(iii) Lecturer in Language subject in which no university has so far offered any course leading to the Master's degree in the subject:

At least a high second class Master's degree in the Faculty of Arts with proficiency in the language concerned, preferably with some publication to his/her credit.

Note : 1�ln case of a candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, the requirement of high second class degree at the Master's stage for the post of lecturer may be relaxed to bare second class degree.

2. If any special qualifications are to be incorporated for any post of University Professor/Professor/Reader/Lecturer, the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the Dean of the Faculty  concerned and such other experts including teacher/teachers of the University, as he deems and fit, shall determine the speciliased qualification to be laid down for the particular post, in addition to the qualifications already prescribed in the statutes.

(d)       Principal                                                                   Minimum Qualifications

A first or high second class Master or equivalent Degree of a foreign University with consistently good academic record and not less than twelve years teaching experience, at least as a lecturer in a Degree College/University department:

 

Provided that the scale of pay of University Professor shall be admissible only to those who possess the qualification of a University Professor and have decided suitable for appointment in that scale by the Public Service Commission or who are already University Professor on the recommendation of the Commission at the time of appointment:

Provided further that, for the purpose of teaching experience 15 years of experience in a Degree college as Principal will satisfy the requirement in respect of 10 years teaching experience in Post Graduate Classes.
