(As approved by the Chancellor vide letter no. BSU-5050/GS (1) dated
18.11.1980 together with amendments vide letter no. BSU-50/80-2442-GS(1) dated
15.9.1981 and no BSU-3984/GS (1) dated 22.12.1986),
1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary as contained in the statutes
it is hereby provided that the cases of Demonstrators, if any working in the
service of the University or the College concerned, as the case may be shall be
considered for promotion to the post of Lecturer subject to the following
conditions:-
1[(a) that he holds the
qualifications as prescribed for the post Lecturer under the Statutes which were
in force at the time of appointment as Demonstrator;
(b)
that he has put in at least 7 years of continuous service Demonstrator in the
University or the College concerned:
2[Provided that a person, who has put in at least
twelve years of continuus service as Demonstrator in the University or the
College concerned shall be deemed to be eligible for promotion as Lecturer under
these Statutes if he holds at least a second class Master's Degree and fullfills
the other conditions prescribed infre Statute].
(c) that he holds substantive appointment on the post of Demonstrator:
(d) that his work as Demonstrator has been found to be satisfactory.
Such a promotion shall be deemed to be a personal promotion and shall be
done by upgrading the post which he is holding but the upgraded post shall cease
to exist when the promotee ceases to be a lecturer by reason of his retirement,
resignation, death or otherwise.
2[Explanation.�A Demonstrator will be eligible for
the promotion to the post of
lecturer in the subject in which he holds Master's Degree irrespective of the
subject
in which he has been working as a Demonstrator, provided that the subject in
which he holds Master�s Degree and the subject in which he is working as

Demonstrator are assigned to the same Faculty and he fulfils all other
conditions as prescribed in this Chapter.
2.The Registrar, with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor in cases of
those who are in the service of the University, or the Principal of the College
concerned, with the approval of the Secretary, in case of admitted colleges, as
the case may be, shall refer the cases of Demonstrators who fulfil the above
conditions to the University Selection Committee/College Service Commission
along with all the relevant information about them and C.C. Rolls for its
recommendation.
3. The recommendation of the University Selection Committee/College
Service Commission shall be placed before the Syndicate/Governing Body for
orders.
4. The Promotion shall depend on consideration of seniority, service
records and C.C. Rolls provided that where C.C. Rolls have not been maintained
before implementation of these Statutes, a certificate from the Principal of the
College or the Head Of the University/Department about he satisfactory service
rendered by the Demonstrator concerned shall serve the purpose of C.C.Rolls.
5. A Demonstrator shall not be promoted to the post of Lecturer unless his
name has been recommended for the purpose by University Selection Committee or
the College Service Commission, as the case may be.
6. Demonstrator who is promoted as Lecturer shall, from the date of
promotion, draw his pay in the Lecturer's scale which shall not be less than the
amount he is already drawing as Demonstrator, but if his pay in the
Demonstrator's scale does not fit in the Lecturer's scale his pay in the
Lecturer's scale shall be fixed at the stage next above the amount of his pay in
Demonstrator's scale but his date of increment shall remain the same as that in
the Demonstrator's scale of pay.
7. This Statute shall come into force with effect from November 14, 1980.
